I'd Like My Sushi Fried, Please
You may have heard that the Japanese eat sushi- lots of sushi. Only the freshest fish gets used for sushi, and much of it starts it way to the plate at Tsukiji fish Market. Massive frozen tuna are dragged into a room before dawn, where expert buyers evaluate them for fat content. After all, you do want your raw fish to slide down your throat like a cool pat of butter.
As anxious tourists watch, a furious bidding takes place to get the choicest cuts. When the auction is done, we were able to drop next door for the freshest sushi breakfast in town, prepared by an expert chef. Nothing like a little raw tuna to get the day started right.
