Konbanwa! Good evening!
Long day, especially for the family who spent the past 24 hours hosting me and my collection of lame jokes. Yass and Yoshiko were very nice, and I lived like a traditional Japanese for a day. I even got a lesson in kendo, the Japanese art of fencing. I plan to put my new skills to use in class with misbehaving students this fall.
We also were introduced to the Japanese tea ceremony. I have a lot to learn about this, starting with kneeling with my feet flat on the floor. It was very interesting, our hostess was gracious, and I didn't cause any international incidents.
