The Great Buddha (Daibutsu) of Kamakura has been gazing serenely at the world since the middle of the 13th century. Although floods, fires, earthquakes, and tsunamis have destroyed the buildings that once covered him, nothing can shake this Buddha. The statue, which is hollow (you can walk inside!) has been out in the elements for 500 years and still looks pretty good.
