Sleepless in Sapporo

Konnichi wa,

Good day! A mere 24 hours after boarding a MARTA train in Atlanta, we arrived at the Hotel Okura in Sapporo, home of the winter Olympics a few decades ago. Haven't seen anything yet- the entire flight was in daylight, and we arrived here at dusk. The picture shows the little boxed meal our hosts had prepared for us. I was particularly fond of the salmon eggs, though they're tough to pick up with chopsticks.

Today we tour the city, drop by the famous Sapporo Brewery (they're making me go...) and finish off with a BBQ feast Ghengis Khan style- so called because the griddle is shaped like a Mongolian warriors helmet.

All the comforts of home- there's a 7/11 on every corner.

Domo Arigatou Gozaimasu!

  1. Did you look down and wave as you passed over Anchorage?
